Bring Your Guitar & Relax

Sometimes I really worry about a shoot.  I worry that I won’t capture the one shot the client is looking for.  Because if there is ONLY one shot that is good, then the client will be happy.  One shot is not always easy to get.  Especially with that client.  You know the one that hates having his picture taken.  That was not the case for Alec.  Evidence to follow.

My advice to anyone getting their photograph taken is to remember this…relax, just RELAX.  Earlier this week I had a cortisone shot in my knee.  (Feels better now, thank you.)  Anyway, when the doctor was just about to put that HUGE needle in there he told me that tensing up the muscle would make it hurt and cause it not to be as affective.  WHAT!!??  Have you seen those needles?  I cringe to think about it.  But I digress.  OK, his advice to me is the same as my advice to you.  RELAX and it will be far less painful.   It also makes for a much, much, much better image of you–the client.

This was the case when I photographed Alec for his senior pictures last week.  He, obviously, took my advice.  I’m sure the guitar helped, too.  And his good looks probably added to the images.

He graduates from Mesquite High next month and heads to BYU in the fall.

He’s going to do amazing things in this world.  Someday, I’m pretty sure, I am going to be taking his advice.  I wonder if I’m too old to learn to play the guitar.

Congratulations, Alec!
